Community Leadership Development Intern

I. QUALIFICATIONS
Working toward a degree/recently graduated from a four-year college or university in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with e-mail and database programs. Demonstrated ability to write effectively.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, detailed oriented, effective written and oral communication skills.
Must have good communication skills, creativity and the ability to problem solve and provide superior customer service.
II. POSITION SUMMARY
The individual will be responsible for assisting with multiple Detroit Leadership projects and event coordination. The candidate will also assist with committee management and data entry. The candidate will need to brainstorm creative input to provide solutions or new ideas to execute at events. The candidate should be comfortable in a networking environment and at ease speaking with groups of people in a social situation and possess an upbeat personality to deliver outstanding customer service. The individual will also take on writing and website updating assignments. Knowledge of web programs and social networking sites is ideal.
III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (or FUNCTIONS):
Assist with planning Detroit Leadership sessions, alumni and recruitment events
Attend program sessions, assist with onsite registration and provide pre and post-event fulfillment
Assist committee members with alumni sponsorship out reach
Assist with brainstorming and development of program elements
Administrative duties – copying, organizing materials for events, faxing, and data entry
