The Library Network - System Administrator (full time)

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION Under the direction of the Technology Services Manager, the System Administrator is primarily responsible for:  Providing Microsoft and Linux server support  Managing Library computer projects  Providing support of PC time and print management software  Website maintenance  Providing secondary support to the Network Technician RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide server installation, support and maintenance of all TLN servers 2. Manage library computer projects 3. Provide help desk support for both TLN staff and library members. 4. Provide support of the PC time and print management software used by member libraries. 5. Perform web site maintenance tasks 6. Assist with network and pc technology services provided to library members. 7. Ensure inventory database is kept updated with the coordination of the Technology Specialist. 8. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly routine tasks including daily tape backup, maintaining the backup log, and daily checking of successful backups. 9. Provide secondary support to Network Technician to provide network support including network equipment and monitoring the WAN for TLN and all member libraries. 10. Perform other duties as assigned by Technology Services Manager and/or the Network Technician. QUALIFICATIONS and NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology, preferred or equivalent work experience 2. Minimum of one network-based certification preferred (such as MCSA, MCITP, Network+) 3. Minimum of one pc-based certification required (such as A+, MCITP, MCTS) 4. Microsoft Server support experience required, minimum 2 years 5. Linux server experience preferred, minimum 1 year 6. Experience with local and wide area networks required, minimum 2 years 7. Experience managing Cisco firewalls and routers preferred 8. Experience with content management systems such as Joomla, Drupal and Wiki’s preferred 9. DESCRIPTION OF PAID INTERNSHIP

Goal of Internship:
Provide experience in office environment and in Lansing, to influence State health policy on behalf of companies and unions working together. Key EAM goal is securing more affordable and quality health benefits for employers, workers and their families, and all Michiganians. EAM also sometimes deals with other issues. Duties can allow for using EAM experience for class paper. We will try to accommodate class schedules.

Job Summary:
Work part time (20 hours/week on selected days or part-time most days) to provide clerical support for three person staff of small, non-profit public policy organization. Also may assist with research to develop organization’s positions. Sometimes accompany staff to meet with legislators, State officials, EAM members’ staffs and concerned health and other groups.

Education and Experience:
Required: At least 2 years of College, with successful completion of courses in Political Science, History and Economics.
Preferred: Graduate students in public policy or related fields.
Preferred: Prior successful office job experience.
Plus factor: Prior experience working in health care or political environment

Required Skills:
1. High proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point, including Office 2007).
2. Experience in maintaining ACT or similar contact databases.
3. Comfort with close supervision, including multiple re-drafts.
4. High competence with Internet, including expeditious research.
5. High comfort with multi-tasking.

Job Duties:
• Skillful & pleasant answering phone: screen calls and take substantive messages.
• Maintain computer contact database of 2,000 plus entries.
• Coordinate mailing and emailing communications using contact database.
• Format documents prepared by staff for computer files and/or Internet.
• Maintain files, both hard copy and electronic.
• Conduct research on state health policy, laws and medical technology.
• Scheduling and coordinating organization’s meetings and with outside groups.
• Process our limited mail.
• Operate copying, fax and other office machines.
• Perform other administrative, clerical and other duties as assigned.

Flexible Hours:
• Expected 20 hours/week can be two 8 hour days with possible some additional time OR 4 hours each of 5 days.
• Office’s Hours: 8/9 am to 5/6 pm.

Detroit Lions Youth Football Interns

The Youth Football Interns will assist the Director of Youth Football in regard to all Detroit Lions Youth Football Programs including; Summer Camps, Half-time Youth Football Games, 7 on 7 High School Passing Tournament, Detroit Lions Kids Club, Detroit Lions Coaching Academy and Clinics.

The interns will be expected to exercise initiative and good judgment in regard to working with children and in all Youth Football programs and football outreach initiatives.

Youth Football Duties

•Marketing and promotion--2012 Detroit Lions Summer Youth Football Camps via print, radio, social media, and grass roots methods
• Event management--Plan, evaluate, and coordinate practices, games, and special events, including set up and break down of entire camp operation, scheduling transportation, equipment distribution, etc.
o Monitor the day-to-day operations of the field. Make sure requisite supplies are available during practices and games.
o Coordinate the daily on-site camp registration process (check-in, waiver collection, t-shirt & name tag
distribution)
o Enforce safety rules, notify proper personnel when field maintenance is required, or recognize any hazardous
situations and report to the camp director.

Position Requirements

•Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license. (Reimbursement for travel is provided)
•Must have strong desire to work with children ages 6-14
•Must be college degree seeking, specifically in coaching, teaching, event management, marketing or sports administration
•Must have clear understanding, knowledge and passion for football – prior coaching experience preferred
•Experience in working with youth – demonstrated youth leadership skills
•Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a professional manner
•Excellent organizational skills and communication skills (oral and written)
•Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer).
•Ability to work with a flexible schedule in order to be available for scheduled events, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
